Several years ago, Circle 7 decided to undertake the project of renovating the children’s playground and prayer garden.  To raise money for this endeavor, circle members asked church members and community leaders for their favorite recipes.   These recipes were collated into a cookbook, entitled  “Bountiful Blessings”.  To date, over 1000 books have been sold.  Money raised from these cookbooks, along with generous donations from the church and community, enabled the circle to purchase the playground equipment you see today.

Two play areas have been established, one for small tots, and the other for larger children.  The second phase of the project will involve making a prayer area.  This area will be sectioned off from the play areas with plants and fencing.  The bench and birdbath placed in honor of Rev. Herman Winberry many, many years ago will reside in this area of the garden.

Circle 7 hopes that the newly designed play area and prayer garden will provide many hours of enjoyment and reflection to the members and friends of Chestnut Street UMC.
